EWS provides preventative care for BNFL
BNFL has outsourced its HVAC service and maintenance at one of its key sites to EWS.
The contract covers BNFL’s Springfields site, near Preston which was
the first plant in the world to produce fuel for a commercial power station
and has provided nuclear fuel fabrication services since the mid-40’s.
EWS’ is delivering a mix of planned preventative maintenance with an emphasis on energy efficiency. The critical nature of BNFL’s business requires all plant to be well maintained to maximise performance levels and minimise energy usage and waste energy.
The contract was originally won through a competitive tender by EWS in 1999. Since then the plant has undergone a number of changes with plant either being re-sited of new kit being installed.
Much of the HVAC equipment is Eaton-Williams own branded products and includes
chillers, Moducel air handling and IPAC units, Edenaire close control Series
600 units and numerous split systems and window units.
The contract is managed through EWS’ network of mobile engineers and backed up with its 24/7 emergency response.
BNFL is an international energy business that spans the entire nuclear energy cycle from designing reactors through to the manufacture of fuel, power station de-commissioning and clean up.
